Codes and conventions

We can firstly see that this is a film poster from the billing block and the actors name being stated on the poster. The film poster is for a mystery film. It is evident that it is a mystery film as the main character is represented the dark and cannot be fully seen, similarly to the end of the film as the end is a mystery. he is also looking off view of the camera suggesting that there is something out of the viewers eyeliner again creating an element of mystery. The island is also made to look mysterious which also adds to the element of mystery. The red writing on the poster suggests danger as red connotes danger as does the fire in his hand. the fire being in his hand also could imply that he too is dangers. It is also suggested that there is a plot twist as the actors face is half in the light and half in the dark. The island is also made to look mysterious which also adds to the element of mystery.

we can firstly see that this is a film poster from the billing block and the actors names being stated on the photo. the film poster is for a horror film. It is evident that it is a horror film as the main character is represented to have pale skin and blood running down her face. Pale skin has connotations of illness or death which implies that it is a horror film as horror films stereotypically involve death. Blood also has connotations of death and danger which further suggests that it a horror film as, again horror films stereotypically involve death and danger. The actors name being in red also connotes danger and suggests that their character is dangerous. The characters face being half in blood and half clean could suggest a twist in the movie which would encourage viewers to watch it as they would be intrigued to find out what the twist is.

This poster is more of a teaser rather than a film poster as it challenges the codes and conventions of a film poster. This poster does not use a billing block and does not state the actors name. The actors name not being stated is useful as it advertises the film rather than the actor, the name stated on the poster is the name of the character in the film so that in the poster the only thing advertised is the film. The character is completely in black this could imply that he is a dangerous character as black has connotations of danger and death. also the fact that he is split between the middle also could suggest that there is something unexpected behind this character. The poster also gives a slight incite of the film to the audience interesting them in the plot, further encouraging them to watch the film.

Advert analysis

The producers are trying to show that the sauce is extremely hot, so hot intact that it resembles fire. Fire has connotations of heat and something being hot. It could be suggesting that the sauce is so hot it will feel as if fire is in your mouth, it quickly gets the message across to the target. they have used the colour red as it has connotations of heat this is eye catching because the first thing the advertiser wants the viewer to notice is that the sauce is hot. The red colour also has conotations of danger which shows the audience that the sauce is so hot intact, that it is dangerously hot and could maybe harm someone if too much is used.
Target audiences - The advertisement is stereotypically aimed at older people this is because hot sauce is typically aimed at older people as hot sauce would be inappropriate for children to eat.
-It could also be aimed at people who like danger, this is because the sauce is extremely hot and would appeal to risk takers

The producers are trying to show that pepsi is the hero behind Coca-Cola and is maybe the same but in fact better as coke is just pretending to be pepsi. The background is a rocky area this, to me, has connotations of a waterfall and this would suggest that the pepsi is fresh as is water. The slogan 'we wish you a scary halloween' succsesfully anchors the meaning, the meaning being that drinking coke is scary and pepsi would only ever be coke in the purpose of scaring someone. The red colour on the coke could, in this instance, suggest danger and evil as it supports the slogan again successfully anchoring the meaning.
Target audience - The advertisement is stereotypically aimed at people who's personal interest are greatly peaked by pepsi rather than coke. The top to tail rivalry between coke and pepsi could also peak pepsi lovers interests
- Also as the advertisement is halloween themed it could also peak the interest of people who like halloween and enjoy to dress up and celebrate halloween.
